You may have showered today but how is your energy hygiene? It’s just as important to cleanse our energy as it is to cleanse our bodies. When I don’t purify my energy field, I quite literally feel “polluted”. I can feel drained, irritable, nauseous, anxious, lack focus, and feel weighted down by unseen forces. Being an energetically aware person, it has become vital to my mental, emotional and physical well-being to have a daily practice that clears, cleanses and purifies my energy field. Good energetic hygiene is especially important when working as a Reiki channel with clients and students.

Everywhere we go in the world there are energies that influence us in either negative or positive ways. That is why we feel calm and peaceful when we gaze upon a serene ocean landscape or find ourselves drawn to or repelled by a particular person in a room full of strangers. Our energy field can be influenced by everything we come into contact with or draw our attention to. The conversations we have, the people we spend our time with, the places we go, the books we read, the TV we watch (that’s why they call it “programming” after all), and the images we see on social media – all of these things can be impacting us and we may not even realize it. Just walking down the street minding our own business we can be influenced by the energy fields of those we pass. Our energy fields or auras can literally start collecting psychic/energetic debris from other people and environments that can effect us on the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels. The physicality of this world is just an illusion after all – everything is energy. WE are energy. And we are either operating with a harmonized system or one with distortions and static.

So how do we maintain an energy field that is harmonized, empowered, and free of static? By practicing good energy hygiene and finding cleansing rituals that work. You will know what works and what doesn’t by how you feel after – you will feel “lighter and brighter”. Here are a few energy hygiene practices to get you started:

Spending time in nature is the easiest and quickest way to cleanse our field. You also get the added benefit of naturally being grounded by the energy of the forest which acts as a shield making it harder for disharmonious energies to cause interference.

Visualizing a cleansing light while using the breath is also effective. Bring a white light down through the crown of the head, down your grounding channel along the spine, into the legs and out the bottoms of the feet into the heart of Mother Earth. Then bring the light back up the body and out through the crown showering the light down through your aura. Do this with the intention of clearing, cleansing and purifying your field. With any kind of energy practice that raises and expands your energy field, it is always a good idea to tuck in your energy field nice and close to your physical body. Intention is all you need.

A regular meditation practice will raise your vibration and make lower energies bounce off you like teflon. The stronger frequency will always overpower the weaker one, so ideally let it be the more harmonious one (that means YOU).

Shielding will also be invaluable to keep your energy sovereign and free of debris or unwanted influence. You can imagine a gold light, diamond light, a dark cloak, or even a steel box around yourself. That it feels strong to you is all that matters. Reinforce this field throughout the day or when you need it. Simply saying “Shields up!” to reactivate or reinforce your earlier shielding process works great too.

Be very clear about what you allow for and think and (even better) speak it clearly out loud into your field. They call it “spelling” for a reason. Words have frequency and vibration and we are literally casting spells and informing our field with our words and thoughts. This is why affirmations are so powerful. We can literally change our cell structure and DNA with the power of our belief. That’s science, folks. So, as an example, after cleansing your field you can say something like, “I only allow for the purest vibrations and frequencies of love, light, truth, beauty and wisdom to flow through me and remain within my presence always.” Or, whatever feels strong to you. Believe it to be true and so it is.

Work with the Archangels. Archangel Michael and Archangel Zadkiel are living light streams and powerful allies to cleanse and purify. Ask AA Michael to send his blue sapphire light stream down through your channel, into every cell of your body and out into your field to clear, cleanse and purify. Be clear and specific with your instructions. I find saying “Michael” (pronounced MIC-AY-ELE) 12 times out loud aligns ones field with theirs creating a stronger connection. I can literally feel the change in energy within and around my body when I work with these powerful Light Beings. Use the same process with AA Zadkiel (pronounced ZAD-KEY-ELE) asking for their alchemical violet light stream to start at the bottoms of the feet, moving up towards the crown and expanding out into the aura.

Develop a relationship with your spirit guides. We all have them! They will help mitigate any riffraff that may come your way. This is done through meditation and asking them to draw close. But keep in mind that some riffraff may slip through sometimes even with the best shielding and cleansing practices and with all the angels and guides on deck. This is because your soul may need to experience an important lesson to empower you further and help you evolve to a new level. I speak from experience and looking back it was worth it no matter how challenging it was at the time.

Knowledge is power. These are all simple practices that work and none of them have to be complicated. Simple is always best. Believe me when I tell you that YOU are a powerful being that can create worlds. You have been taught otherwise through hundreds of years of ancestral and societal conditioning. We are only beginning to scratch the surface of what it means to be an eternal energetic being in a seemingly limited physical body. Once we become familiar with the energetic aspects of ourselves we are empowered to remain sovereign and steady no matter how chaotic the world around us appears.
